DSIEC Chairman Jerry Agbaike Honoured as NIPSS Integrity Ambassador

The Chairman of the Delta State Independent Electoral Commission (DSIEC), Sir Dr Jerry Agbaike, has been honoured with the NIPSS Integrity Ambassador certification by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies, in recognition of his leadership, integrity and contributions to public service.

The institute said the award followed a rigorous screening and selection process aimed at identifying senior public officials and managers who have demonstrated outstanding integrity and sustained excellence in leadership and service.

Dr Agbaike, a Fellow of several professional bodies, holds a doctorate in Political Science and has participated in various leadership and management programmes in Nigeria and abroad. His academic and professional training includes courses at “Manchester Business School”

He spent 34 years in the Delta State public service, rising to the rank of Permanent Secretary. He served in that role for 11 years before retiring and was later appointed DSIEC chairman by Sheriff Oborevwori.

Beyond his role at DSIEC, Dr Agbaike also serves as National Vice-Chairman of the Forum of Chairmen of State Independent Electoral Commissions of Nigeria, where he contributes to electoral administration and institutional reforms.

Under his leadership, DSIEC conducted the 2024 Delta State local government elections, which observers described as credible, transparent and peaceful.

Dr Agbaike has earned recognition as an impartial electoral administrator, with supporters crediting his leadership for strengthening public confidence in the electoral process, promoting voter inclusion and expanding democratic participation at the grassroots level in Delta State.
