Waive Hails Oborevwori Over N22.69bn Udu–ECN Road Project
The Member representing Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Francis Waive, has commended Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, over the approval of the N22.69 billion reconstruction of the strategic Udu–ECN Road.
Waive, Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, described the project as another legacy intervention that would improve connectivity, boost commerce and ease transportation across communities in the federal constituency.
The 20-kilometre road, with an additional two-kilometre spur to Otor-Udu, stretches from the Warri–Port Harcourt Expressway at ECN Junction to the DSC Expressway at Udu Road Junction.
In a statement on his verified Facebook page on Wednesday, Waive thanked the Governor on behalf of his constituents, noting that the project would impact communities across Ughelli North, Ughelli South and Udu local government areas.
“Your administration continues to execute legacy projects that will outlive all of us across the state, and we are grateful,” the federal lawmaker said.
The project was approved at the 14th meeting of the Delta State Tenders Board for 2026, chaired by the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, and awarded to Niger Construction Limited, popularly known as NigerCat, with an 18-month completion period.
Announcing the approval, the Commissioner for Works (Highways and Urban Roads), Comrade Reuben Izeze, said the project followed sustained public concern over the poor condition of the road.
Izeze expressed confidence that the contractor would deliver the project to specification and within schedule, describing it as a strategic intervention under Governor Oborevwori’s M.O.R.E Agenda.
When completed, the road is expected to reduce travel time, ease movement of people and goods, and strengthen economic activities along the Udu–Otu-Jeremi corridor and adjoining communities.
