According to the chairman, the delegation visited the senator to express appreciation for his role in facilitating the institution’s upgrade and to seek his legislative support in ensuring that Toto Local Government Area is considered as the new permanent site for the polytechnic.

Hon. Baba Yahaya applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the transformation of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, into the Federal University of Mining, Engineering and Technology, describing the decision as a landmark achievement for higher education in Nasarawa State.

He argued that relocating the polytechnic to Toto would promote equitable development across the state while stimulating economic activities in the area.

“First, we are here to appreciate you for your efforts towards the successful upgrade of Federal Polytechnic Nasarawa to the Federal University of Mining, Engineering and Technology, Nasarawa.

“We are also appreciating His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, for approving the upgrade of the Polytechnic to university status.

“As a result, the Polytechnic is expected to be relocated to a new site, and we are appealing for its relocation to Toto Local Government Area in the interest of balancing, equity, and even development,” the chairman stated.

The council chairman noted that locating the institution in Toto would boost economic growth, create employment opportunities, improve infrastructure, and expand access to quality tertiary education for residents of the local government and neighbouring communities.

He further appealed to Senator Wadada to use his influence at the National Assembly to facilitate the siting of the institution in Toto, assuring the senator and the All Progressives Congress (APC) of the continued support of the people of Toto for both the Federal and Nasarawa State governments.
