Sudan and South Sudan commit to cooperation on oil, security and bilateral ties
In Juba, the capital of South Sudan, Sudanese Transitional Sovereignty Council Chairman General Abdel-Fattah Al-Burhan and President Salva Kiir of South Sudan held a meeting on Wednesday.
Media reports indicated that following the meeting, South Sudanese officials expressed optimism regarding Al-Burhan’s visit, anticipating it would greatly enhance cooperation between Khartoum and Juba.
In the same vein, Sudanese officials confirmed that the talks revolved around shared concerns and bilateral ties.
The Sudanese delegation also briefed President Kiir on the ongoing conflict between the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) and the Rebel Paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF), emphasizing the SAF’s progress in multiple sectors.
The meeting was attended by senior officials from both nations, including Sudan’s Minister of Energy and Oil, and the head of Sudan’s General Intelligence Service.
