NSUK Muslim Community Holds Ramadan Symposium for Youth Empowerment

The Muslim community in Nasarawa State University Keffi (NSUK) recently organized a symposium aimed at empowering Muslim youths during the month of Ramadan.

The annual symposium was held at the 1000 seater auditorium, of the University.

Former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Adamu, emphasized the importance of Muslims avoiding negative tendencies that could tarnish their image during Ramadan.

Adamu, who was represented by Professor Mohammed Akaro Mainoma, commended the organizers of the programme, and urged Muslim students to utilize the lessons of the fasting period to draw closer to God.

Additionally, he advocated for improvements in the organization of the event, which aims to bring Muslims together within the university community and instill good morals in those observing Ramadan.

The symposium, themed “Empowering Muslim Youths: Lessons from the Month of Ramadan,” aimed to create awareness on keeping the rules of Ramadan and was attended by Muslim clerics, principal officers, lecturers, and students. Senator Adamu urged Muslim students to utilize the lessons of the fasting period to draw closer to God.

The Vice Chancellor of Nasarawa State University Keffi, Professor Sa’adatu Hassan Liman, emphasized the importance of the symposium’s theme, “Empowering Muslim Youths in the Month of Ramadan.” She urged the entire university community, regardless of differences, to adopt good moral practices and avoid unethical behavior.

“The lessons of the month of Ramadan include, adhering to the moral lessons that Allah has sent down to human being and also to believe in the six articles of faith, by doing this Allah will bless us. I want to use this medium to call on all members of this academic society, not only Muslims but to all religions to shun the immoral act but behave in a manners that the society will be better “.

 

Other speakers, including Ibrahim Moskolo, Secretary of Keffi Local Government Area, and the representative of Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada, and that of tht emir of Keffi, stressed the importance of Ramadan in providing leadership skills and inculcating good morals. They also emphasized the need for Muslims to obey Allah’s commands and prioritize the life hereafter.

Professor Ibrahim Mohammed Haruna, Chairman of Muslim Ummah, Nasarawa State University, stated that the programme was organized to bring Muslims together, particularly during the month of Ramadan. He charged both staff and students to obey Allah’s commands.

The symposium was part of efforts to bring Muslims together within the university community and promote ethical conduct during Ramadan.

As noted in Islamic teachings, Ramadan is a holy month where Muslims strive to improve themselves and avoid wrongdoing, and committing sins during this period is considered worse than at any other time.
