Gov. Sule’s Scholarship Scheme Begins Screening in Keffi — Sa’adatu Yahaya

A total of 18,000 Nasarawa State students are set to benefit from Governor Abdullahi Sule’s scholarship scheme for 2025. The Executive Secretary of the Nasarawa State Scholarship Board, Hajiya Sa’adatu Yahaya, made this announcement during the screening of beneficiaries at the convocation square of Nasarawa State University in Keffi.
The physical screening exercise of Nasarawa state students, according to the executive secretary, Nasarawa state scholarship board, Sa’adatu Yahaya, is part of the process to identify eligible students for the scholarship and subsequently the disbursement.
She said, the scholarship program aims to alleviate the financial burden on students and their families, promoting academic excellence in the state which Governor Abdullahi Sule has demonstrated his commitment to education by increasing the scholarship budget by 50% and implementing an e-payment system to ensure transparency
“The purpose of the screening is to ensure that the funds His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi Sule, has given to students goes to the right people, to enable us know those that are still students, those truly in need of the money, and also, those that are truly indigenes of the state,” she stated.
Sa’adatu Yahaya, further disclosed that the scholarship would benefit only the year two students of the University, polytechnic, college of education, college of Agriculture and college of health science and technology where they will present an evidence indicating that they are indigenes and deserving students, noting that the online screening exercise had already been completed.
To accommodate students who may not be able to appear physically for the screening due to distance, Yahaya disclosed that special arrangements had been made through their representives
“We’re trying to reduce the risks for those that are also indigenes but due to distance will not be able to appear for their screening. An arrangement with their various heads has been made to collect their details and credentials to make the process seamless for them,” she added.
“The payment is in an e-payment format now, and no longer physical, students having to queue up struggling to collect their funds—we’re no longer in that era. After the screening comes the alert, the scholarship funds disbursement,” she stressed.
Hon. Sa’adatu also expressed appreciation to the governor for his support towards education and the growth of students across the state.
The special assistant to Governor Abdullahi Sule on student matters, Shuaibu Sani, and National president of the Nasarawa state students association NASSA comrade David Ovey Abimiku, commended Governor Sule for providing such an opportunity for students, assuring that the screening would be conducted in an orderly and efficient manner to enable them achieve success.
Similarly, the National President of the Nasarawa State Students Association (NASSA), Comrade David Ovey Abimuku, extended his gratitude to the governor for his consistent support towards education.
“We express heartfelt gratitude to His Excellency, Engr. Abdullahi A. Sule, for his consistent support towards education.
“I urge all beneficiaries to properly make judicious use of the money for the rightful purpose,” he said.
The scholarship initiative is part of Governor Sule’s continued efforts to ease the financial burden on students and promote academic excellence among youths in Nasarawa State.
