Police assure public of safety in Kogi East, debunk alleged planned bandit attack

The Kogi State Police Command has officially debunked the circulating false reports on social media about an imminent bandit attack on the Kogi East zone.
The Police Public Relations Officer, CSP William Aya, in a statement clarified that the reports are unverifiable and contain no element of truth, urging residents and the public to disregard these baseless rumors.
The statement further disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, stressed that security measures in Kogi State have been intensified with tactical teams, including the Police Mobile Force, Counter-Terrorism Unit, Quick Response Unit, and intelligence operatives deployed across strategic locations to ensure safety.
The Police spokesman explained that additional security assets have also been deployed to carry out operations and meet any unforeseen situations in critical areas.
The Command urged the public to remain calm, verify information from official sources, and cooperate with security agencies for peace and security in the state.
Residents were also encouraged to promptly report any suspicious activity to the police to help maintain stability and avoid panic caused by misinformation.
The Command reiterated that spreading unverified information only fuels unnecessary fear and distress among the populace

” If you notice anything suspicious, please report without hesitation. Security is a shared responsibility.” CSP Aya advised.
