ECWA One Akwanga turned into a scene of celebration as supporters, family, and church members of Engr. Tony Bala Shammah gathered to mark his emergence as the All Progressives Congress [APC] flagbearer for the Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon, and Wamba Federal Constituency.
The gathering followed the conclusion of the APC primary election that produced Shammah as the party’s candidate for the 2027 House of Representatives race.
Cheers, drumming, and chants of “TBS” filled the church premises as attendees expressed relief and optimism about the outcome. Many described the result as a reflection of grassroots mobilization and confidence in Shammah’s track record as an engineer and community leader.
In brief remarks to the crowd, supporters highlighted his accessibility and involvement in local development projects as reasons for backing his candidacy.
Family members and church members who were present said the victory was “an answer to prayers” and called for unity within the party ahead of the general election.
Rev. Bala Yusuf urged Christians to back their faith with action, as true religion is measured by service to the less privileged.
Speaking to the congregation, Rev. Yusuf said a genuine religious person is one who actively supports those in need within the community.
He called on wealthy individuals to use their resources to help others, noting that such acts attract God’s blessings.
“Christianity should not breed selfishness. Every believer must assist those around them according to their income,”
The cleric also advised believers to always appreciate God with all they have, noting that gratitude and generosity go hand in hand just as he warned against what he described as “fake practice of religion,” stressing that faith without compassion and charity is empty.
On his part, the Chun Mada, Samson Gamu Yare, called for peaceful coexistence among people irrespective of affiliation, stating that thanksgiving is scriptural, urging faithful to imbibe the habit of thanking God for the good things he has done in their lives.
In his response, celebrant Engr. Tony Bala Shammah said the thanksgiving was to show appreciation to God and to the TBS family movement, which began as a child’s play.
He promised not to disappoint those who made his dream a reality, and called on the people to support the policies of the government of the day so it could succeed.
Highlight of the service was thanksgiving offering by Engr. Tony Bala Shammah, APC candidate for Akwanga, Nasarawa Eggon and Wamba Federal Constituency, where he thanked God for his victory in the just-concluded APC primaries and dedicated the win to God and the people of his constituency.
