The Chairman of Wamba Local Government Area, Hon. Ezekiel Musa Jagga, has praised security agencies for their commitment and sacrifices in protecting lives and property, while unveiling fresh measures aimed at tackling insecurity across rural communities in the council.

Jagga made the remarks on Friday during a routine security meeting held at the Wamba Local Government Secretariat, where security stakeholders reviewed the prevailing security situation and mapped out strategies to curb criminal activities in the area.

He commended the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), military personnel, and local vigilante groups for their resilience despite operational challenges.

“Our security agencies have continued to demonstrate courage under difficult conditions. We cannot overstate the sacrifices they make daily to keep our communities safe,” the chairman said.

Jagga assured the security agencies of the council’s continued logistical and moral support to strengthen operations, particularly in remote and vulnerable communities.

He disclosed that the council would adopt an intelligence-driven security approach anchored on closer collaboration with traditional institutions, vigilante groups, youth leaders, and other community stakeholders to improve early warning systems and ensure swift responses to security threats.

The chairman noted that participants at the meeting identified cattle rustling, communal conflicts, and armed banditry along border communities as major security concerns confronting the local government.

To address the challenges, the meeting resolved to intensify joint security patrols, strengthen communication among security formations, and provide adequate support to enable farmers to safely access their farmlands during the peak of the rainy season.

Jagga also appealed to residents to actively support security agencies by volunteering credible and timely information capable of preventing criminal activities.

“Security is everyone’s responsibility. When communities work hand in hand with security agencies, criminals are denied the opportunity to operate,” he said.

The meeting was attended by heads of the Police, DSS, NSCDC, military formations, traditional rulers, and representatives of local vigilante groups, all of whom reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining peace and security across Wamba Local Government Area.
