Toto Elders Say Executive Chairman’s Reconciliation Efforts Restoring Confidence, Appeal to Governor Sule to Sustain Unity
The All Progressives Congress (APC) Elders Forum in Toto Local Government Area of Nasarawa State has said the inclusive leadership style of the Executive Chairman of the council has changed its earlier position of considering an alignment with opposition forces ahead of the 2027 elections.
The elders made the position known during a reconciliation meeting organised by the Executive Chairman, represented by the Supervisor for Works and Housing, Dalami Usman Garkuwa.

The forum, led by its Chairman, Alhaji Musa Ozeremi, commended the council chairman for what it described as deliberate efforts to unite APC members and ensure that all stakeholders have a sense of belonging in the affairs of the party.
According to the elders, the council chairman’s intervention has created renewed confidence among party stakeholders who had allegedly felt excluded from governance since the commencement of Governor Abdullahi Sule’s second term.
The forum said its earlier consideration of aligning with the political camp of retired Inspector-General of Police and former APC governorship aspirant, Mohammed Abubakar Adamu, was largely influenced by what it described as feelings of marginalisation within the government.
The elders, however, said the Executive Chairman’s recent reconciliation initiatives had given them reasons to reconsider their position and remain committed to finding solutions within the APC.

They urged Governor Sule to take advantage of the development by ensuring that his political appointees promote unity rather than division in Toto.
“We appreciate the Executive Chairman for his efforts at ensuring that all parties and interests are carried along in election-related matters, particularly as the party prepares for the 2027 elections,” the forum said.
The elders maintained that inclusive leadership remains essential to rebuilding trust among party members and strengthening the APC ahead of future elections.

They appealed to Governor Sule to encourage all his appointees to work closely with party stakeholders and adopt the same inclusive approach they said the Toto council chairman had demonstrated.
The forum further urged political leaders in the state to prioritise reconciliation, consultation and grassroots engagement as the 2027 political activities gather momentum.
