Chairman of the PDP in the FCT, Hon Sunday D Zaka, while addressing a press conference at the state secretariat of the party in Abuja, on Thursday, said the party has continued to gather intelligence information about how the APC was allegedly planning to disrupt the process.

He said the party has continued to gather intelligence reports about the election, which he said the party deemed it necessary to call on the attention of the international observers, presidency, general public and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to the utterances and alleged plans of the APC as it relates to the Saturday, council election.

“Recall that on the 4th of February, 2022, the state FCT PDP has informed the general public, the security agencies and as well as the international community through a press briefing on some strange developments our intelligence unit has been reporting to us as a party ahead of the FCT Area Councils election scheduled for this Saturday the 12th February, 2022,” he said.

He, however, noted that residents of the FCT have always had smooth elections in the FCT, saying the political atmosphere has never been so tense as all parties and the authorities of the FCT administration and the security agencies have always provided a level playing ground for all contenders.

“And this Saturday, we are going for elections for the first time since the coming of APC with two ministers, which are minister of FCT and that of the state.

According to him, the worrisome developments that the PDP have gathered, which he said is going was unabated was the utterances of the state minister at a campaign rally.

Zaka, therefore, called on President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, the Nigerian Police (NPF), the State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC) and all other security agencies stationed in the FCT to take note of the discovered plans of the APC ahead of the Saturday’s council elections.

“BESIDES, as a democratic party, we do never believed in violence most especially here in the FCT. The country at the moment is passing through security challenges and Nigerians are supposeD to give the President their support to surmount these security challenges and not add to the already tensed atmosphere the APC and the Hon. minister of State of the FCT has created,” the PDP alleged.

The state FCT PDP chairman, therefore, called on all electorates in the FCT to stand firm and not give in to fear or any kind of intimidation on Saturday, election but rather mobilize themselves across all polling units to speak loudly against APC and come out en masse to vote for credible candidates of the PDP.
