The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, and crown political leader of Toto local government of Nasarawa State, Rt. Hon. Abdullahi Ibrahim Balarabe has described this year’s Eid-el-Fitr celebration which signifies the end of 30 days, of Ramadan, fast as the most memorable occasion owing to the peace and progresses his people have enjoyed over years.
Alhaji Balarabe who represents the good people of the Umaisha/Ugya state constituency gave the commendation when he led political leaders and stakeholders to the place of Ohimagye Opanda, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Usman Abdullahi on a Sallah homage, Monday.
Speaker Balarabe who holds the title Walin Opanda, Umaisha Kingdom thanked Ohimagye for maintaining, sustaining peaceful coexistence among other ethnic nationalities and development since their ascension to the throne of his forebears.
The Speaker reminded the people of Opanda and by extension Toto LG that under the reign of Ohimagye in council the area has been enjoying unrelenting peace and tremendous development through the efforts of the present government.
He said the people of Toto LG should consider themselves the most fortunate citizens in the State having a Governor who has focused his developmental touch light on the overall benefits of the area.
The highly elated speaker explained that the state government under the able leadership of Engineer Abdullahi Sule, Executive Governor of Nasarawa State has awarded a contract for the rehabilitation of the Umaisha/Toto road (asphalt), noting that the ongoing flour mill will improve the socio-economic wellbeing of Toto LG.
On the ongoing electrification of Toto LG, the Speaker said successive administration has played their parts in ensuring the completion of the age-long project.
According to him, the state government decided to take over the project as part of Governor Sule’s commitment to linking Toto LG to the National Grid. He said the project when completed will increase the economic development of the area.
The Speaker who is seeking the third term return ticket of the All Progressives Congress, APC, representing the good people of the Unmaisha/Ugya constituency, urged the people of Toto LG to reciprocate the gesture.
On his part, HRH. Alhaji Usman Abdullahi, the Ohimagye Opanda, (Agaba Idu), praised the leadership quality of the Nasarawa Speaker, Alhaji Abdullahi Ibrahim Balarabe, describing him as a worthy son and partner in progress.
The Ohimegye Opanda said the area has witnessed reasonable development due largely to the Speaker’s humane leadership prowess where he has lobbied and attracted a series of development that is giving the area a new look.
He called on his subject home and broad support for the government that brought redemption to the area.
He assured Speaker Balarabe of his continuous support and loyalty in ensuring the government succeeds in its positive direction.
Recall, the Speaker and his people had visited the place shortly after Eid-el-Fitr two raka’at prayers in Umaisha as tradition demands.
Those who attended the epoch-making event were high chiefs in council, sons, and daughters of Umaisha, politicians, women, elders, and groups among others.
