Kogi state Commissioner for Solid minerals and Natural Resources, Hon. Abubakar Muhammed Bashir Gegu wept uncontrollably when he paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Commander of Kogi local government area Vigilante group, Alhassan, at Toto in Nasarawa state.
In his tribute to the late Alhassan, the Vigilante commander, Engr. Gegu, described his death as a great lost not only to the people of Toto LG, but entire Egbira Nation considering his positive impact, contributions and sacrifices rendered over the years.
The Commissioner who led a high powered delegation comprising of SSAs, Acting Chairperson, councilors, stakeholders and supporters to the family residence of late Vigilante Commander in Toto, said he was shocked when the unfortunate news came to him, even though, he travelled to Lagos and yet to fully recover.
The young politician was seen weeping uncontrollably when he was being taken round to meet the immediate family of deceased.
“War against insecurity must be sustained, despite what happened, the bad elements perpetuating evil in our land should be stopped because Egbira nation can’t afford fail, held hostage by some dark forces and strangers whose hallmark is to kill, steal and cause disunity among us”, the Commissioner said.
Speaking further, Engineer Abubakar Bashir Gegu said the death of Alhassan was an act of God, and therefore urged all the people to pray for his peaceful repose.
The Commissioner prayed Allah to grant the late Commander Aljanah firdaus and give the family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
While consoling the wife, children, mother and other family members, the Commissioner assured of his continued support.
Responding, the deceased father, Alhaji Alhassan Chiji, popularly called (rewire), appreciated the Commissioner’s kind gesture and for coming down to identify with them at this trial time.
Alhaji Alhassan urged Engineer Bashir Gegu not to relent in the ongoing fight against insecurity in Egbira nation, adding that courage, capacity and sincerity of purpose shown over the years has placed him above his contemporaries.
Alhassan hailed the Kogi State Governor’s efforts towards halting insecurity and all form of criminal activities in the area.
Similarly, Toto youths in their large number while welcoming their leader and Kogi State Commissioner for solid Minerals and Natural Resources, assured him of their support in the war against insecurity.
Mallam Abubakar Ilyasu Tijani Toto, who spoke on behalf of the Toto youths said it is no longer news that the ongoing war against insecurity particularly in Kogi and other bordering States is yielding positive result in view of sincerity of purpose and leadership acumen of the State government under the leadership of His Excellency, Alhaji Yahaya Adoza Bello.
The spokesman assured the Gegu born Engineer cum grassroot political mobilizer of their support to curb insecurity and other anti social activities that have constituted a menace to our societies.

Commander of the Kogi local government area vigilante group, Mallam Alhassan Alhassan, was on Tuesday, felled by the bullet of gunmen suspected to be kidnappers in a fierce shootout at Ottoyi village on the Niger and Kogi states border.
A source close to the vigilantes revealed that a gun battle that lasted for for about 30 minute at about 11: 30 am to 12 O’Clock of Tuesday, scores of the bandits were also killed several others escaped injuries.
