Kogi Lawmaker pays WAEC/NECO fees for 55 students to enhance education

The entire leadership of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Kogi local government has commended the lawmakr representing the area for his consideration leading to payment of West Africa Senior School Certificate Examination, WASSCE and National Examination Council, NECO, fees in an effort to cushioning the effect of subsidy removal by Federal Government.
The Member representing Kogi constituency at the Kogi state House of Assembly, Honourable Idrees Maikudi Aliyu, has disbursed funds worth thousand of naira for the upforthcoming West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE) and National Examination Council (NECO).
Hon Maikudi disclosed this during the flagged off ceremony held in Koton-karfe, the headquarters of the constituency, said the gesture will go along in redeeming the pains parents passed through in this economic hardship, noting that it will give the students room concentrate more on their studies ahead of the exam.
Briefing Journalist shortly after the event, the lawmaker said the gesture among others were part of his vision and mission geared towards fulfilling campaign promises to the electorates.
“For the sincere love and interest I have for education informed my decision to come in and contribute my quota.”
Global Times Nigeria reports that 55 students cut across the three zones of Kogi LG benefitted from the lawmaker largesse.
“As an educationist who rise to a position of Education Secretary, ES, it becomes incumbent on me to do more in that direction as education is wealth.”
Also speaking, a youth leader and coordinator of National Youth Council of Nigeria, NYCN, Alhaji Isah Abubakar Ada Abu lauded the lawmaker effort at reneging his commitment to education as a means of empowering the young ones.
Ada Abu urged the lawmaker to continue to provide quality representation to his constituents even as he prayed for his success.
Reacting to the gesture, Executive Chairman of Kogi LG, Hon Dauda Aliyu and Party Chairman, Hon Abubakar Onah who were on ground during the ceremony commended the lawmaker for the thought, said it would no doubt relieve the parents of the beneficiaries the pains of sourcing for money to pay the examination fees.
On their part, the benefiting parents assured the lawmaker of their continued support and loyalty.
Global Times Nigeria reports that party executives across the electoral ward were in attendance and while some students received their cash at their event.
