Nasarawa South 2023: Hon Onawo Says He Will Run Senate, Not Against Governor Sule

Hon Mohammed Ogoshi Onawo, the two term House of Representatives member representing Awe, Doma and Keana Federal constituency has said that he would contest for senate seat for Nasarawa South come 2023.

This, he said that he would not contest for governorship seat with Gov. Abdullahi  Sule.

Hon Onawo, a former speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly disclosed this while speaking with newsmen from Nasarawa State in his office in Abuja on Thursday.

“I  contested for senate under the platform of PDP in 2019 but God said it is not yet time as I belief that God time is the best.

” I will not contest for governorship in 2023 but I want to contest for senate by the grace of God, ” he said

The former lawmaker, who is a Deputy Governorship candidate of People’s Democratic Party ( PDP) in 2019 election said that he don’t need to defect to the ruling APC before contributing his quota positively to the development of the state and the country at large.

” I don’t need to go to the ruling APC before I will contribute my quota to the development of the state.

” The wrong notion is that some  people look at members of the opposition as enemies which is not suppose.

” There will be explosion in APC if all people from APGA, PDP and other political party defect to APC.

” Those in government needs to extend hands of friendship to opposition, especially those that they have seen them with something to offer for the overall development of the country ,” he said.

“Gov. Sule is a friend and associate,my advise for him is to carry everybody along irrespective of political parties as long as he know that the person have something to offer he should called him and not waiting for the person to bring himself,he is the father of the state and when election is over all we need is coming together for progress and development of our state.

On Gov. Sule’s achievements, he said that the Governor  has started on a good note while saying that a lot need to be done for the development  of the state.

” A lot needs to be done for the development  of our state. One President once told me that Nasarawa State is one of the richest states in the country.

” But the state is unable to tap it minerals potentials to the fullest .

” Two years is not enough to assess Gov. Sule but at least there are some changes made,there are remarkable progress as the state is moving forward and we are progressing, ”

“I want to also advise the Governor to ensure that his development programmes get to the most remote areas to enable the people at the hinterland feel the impact of his government.

He urged the people of the state to support Gov. Sule’s administration and other leaders to succeed.

” Let’s support the person in government whether  you are in government or outside the government.

” We need each other to move forward, to progress and to bring development to our state,” he added.

Onawo, a former Speaker of the state assembly (Second assembly 2003 to 2007, PDP Doma North) commended the cordial working relationship between the present assembly and Gov. Sule calling for its sustainability
