NCWS Sets Up Youths Forum To Groom Future Leaders.

The National Council of Women Societies (NCWS) has ordered all its chapters at all levels across the country to create youths forum as part of plan to prepare them for future leadership of the umbrella organization of Nigerian women.

National President of NCWS,  Chief Dr Mrs Gloria Laraba Shoda, gave the order while inaugurating the newly elected executive of the Kogi state chapter of the council held on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Children Amusement Park, Lokoja.

The National President, who is also the President of Africa Regional Council for Women, said though the creation of the youths forum for the body is not in the constitution of NCWS, it has become necessary to groom the younger ones that will succeed the present generation leadership and the on going struggle for women emancipation.

Mrs Shoda also acknowledged the role of the youths in the successes already achieved achieved by the women in addressing gender based imbalances, injustice, violence, human rights violation and discrimination, not only in Nigeria, but all over the world.

She therefore commended Kogi state Governor, Alhaji Yahaya Bello over his gender sensitiveness and people oriented policies which has improved women participation even above the international and national gender policy that recommends a bench mark of 35 % affirmative in all sectors.

The national President also appreciated Governor Bello for appointing women into sensitive positions like, the Secretary to the State Government, Head of Civil Service Commission,  and Teaching Service Commission among others.

On the empowerment of women ,the National woman leader, requested state governments to establish model  markets for women with a bid to assist in the fight against poverty, hunger and and unemployment, through commerce and trade.

The newly elected President of the Kogi state chapter of the council, Chief Mrs Petra Bala Gbogbo, in her acceptance speech on behalf of the other members of the executive, said, “leadership comes with responsibility, so we will use our wealth of experiences to strengthen our relationship with relevant organizations, agencies of government and other stake holders in Kogi state and beyond”.

Mrs Bala Gbogbo promised that the NCWS in Kogi state will work hard to implement the aims and objectives of the umbrella body of women organisations by supporting policy strengthening, capacity building on either domestic,social, political and economic in order to address gender related problems.

She commended the wife of the state Governor, Hajia Rashida Yahaya Bello for her positive impact on the lives on women, youths and children with her pet project
