….Asks Gumi to apologise to Christians, Southerners

….Urges Security agencies to invites Islamic cleric for questioning.

The renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi has come under heavy attack from Nigerians especially the people of southern region of the country as they expressed concerned over his outburst against the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, tagging him as satanic and infidel.

Sheikh Gumi had attacked Wike for receiving the Israeli Ambassador to Nigeria in his office and attempt to seek partnership with Israel over security issues in Abuja.

Gumi made the remark during a sermon on his Facebook page, where he said the minister plans to make Abuja an extension of Tel Aviv, adding that bearded Muslims in Abuja wil be in danger and would be tagged Osama Bin Ladin and killed.

According to Gumi, It was dangerous to entrust Nigeria’s national security to the hands of Christians and Southerners.

Reacting to the Islamic Cleric statement, in a lead of comment the Niger Delta Council of Chiefs, NDCC, has warned Sheikh Ahmad Gumi to trade with caution as not to plunged the country into religion crisis, calling him a renowned religion bigot.

The group said Gumi outburst is irresponsible of an Islamic Cleric and called on security agencies to wade in to arrest the scholar before he throw Nigeria into another unquenchable religion crisis.

The group in a statement issued on Sunday and made available to Global Times Nigeria by Chief Mathias Efe Olowu, National Chairman and Obong Sir Unyime Ekwere, National Secretary of the council condemned in entirety the uncontrollably statement by the controversial Islamic scholar, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi as strange and uncalled for considering the present situation of the country.

The council of chiefs described Chief Nyesom Wike, the Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory as a detribalized Nigerian who is focused and determined to help President Bola Ahmed Tinubu deliver campaign promises made to Nigerians.

According to the group, Sheikh Gumi is clearly trading on a sentiment and discrimination against a Christian southerner serving as FCT Minister, noted that Gumi has forgotten so quick that whatever God designed will surely manifest.

While demanding for Gumi’s arrest ,the group specifically challenged and call out the Cleric that the FCT was built and made to it’s present status with the resources of the Niger Delta people and as such Wike has every right to occupy that office of the Minister of the FCT

“We call the DSS and the Nigeria police to invite Gumi for questions regarding the irresponsible outburst and also commit an undertaking for the safety of our illustrious son of the Niger Delta region”.

“We want to let Gumi know that, he cannot teach Wike how to run the office of the Minister of the FCT as such, Wike has every right to collaborate with any group of persons, institutions or nation to deliver his mandatory responsibility given to him by President Tinubu”.

“We the Niger Delta people will not fold our hands and watch a religion bigot to humiliate or embarrassed our illustrious son in the person of Nyesom Wike, We hereby demand a letter of apology from Gumi to Wike and Niger Delta people and Christians in general”.
