Sokoto State Govt. Facilitate Payments Of Exam Fees, Offers Scholarship To All Indigenous Students

Sokoto state Deputy Governor Hon. Manir Muhammad Dan’iya has revealed that the incumbent administration has been committed to paying statutory examination fees of indigenous students and those resident in various communities in the state.

Equally, the Deputy Governor said that all the two categories of students who are eligible are awarded scholarships to enable them further their education either at home or abroad.

A statement issue on Thursday by Aminu Abdullahi Abubakar, Director of Press to Sokoto State Deputy Governor, says the gestures are geared towards boosting education at all levels in the state, Dan’Iya told the executive members of the Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria chapter of the Sokoto State Student Association who paid him a courtesy visit.

The Deputy Governor, who was conferred with an award of excellence as ‘Promoter Of Tambuwal’s Agenda on Education For All in Sokoto,’ said education has been having a large chunk of the state’s annual budget since 2015.

“This shows how committed our Governor is to the upliftment of education in the state, where school fees and scholarships are free to Sokoto Indigenes from basic to tertiary levels.”

The Deputy Governor said: “all these are in addition to the building of schools for basic and tertiary education across the state, just as overseas scholarships grants are paid up to Ph.d level for the state indigenes.

He admonished the students to re-dedicate themselves to their studies in order to complement the efforts of their parents and governments, both of who plough huge amounts of money into their education.

He also dedicated the award presented to him to Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal who he described as the ‘Champion of Education’ in the State.

Speaking earlier, the President of the ABU Zaria chapter of the Sokoto State Student Association, Comrade Tambari Kasim Waziri said Tambuwal’s administration has done a lot in the education sector in Sokoto.

Describing the Deputy Governor as a strong promoter of Tambuwal’s drive in education, Tambari said this was why the association decided to honor him.

“We are living witnesses to Governor Tambuwal’s zeal in promoting education in Sokoto while other state governments no longer pay school fees or grant scholarships to their indigenes.
