Questions Trail Conflicting Signals on Nasarawa West APC Senatorial Ticket
Where Does the APC Leadership Stand?
Fresh concerns have emerged in Nasarawa State following conflicting claims over the Nasarawa West Senatorial ticket within the All Progressives Congress (APC), particularly statements attributed to the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Barrister Labaran Magaji.
Barrister Magaji was recently reported to have said that Governor Abdullahi Sule encouraged him to contest for the Senate seat.
The claim, however, appears to contradict earlier indications that party stakeholders were considering either Muhammed Musa Maikaya or Dr. Faisal Shuaibu for the position.
Both Maikaya and Faisal, who are from the Egbira ethnic group in Toto Local Government Area, were said to have stepped down their governorship ambitions in support of Governor Sule’s preferred candidate, Senator Ahmed Aliyu Wadada.
The development has generated reactions among party faithful and political observers, many of whom are now seeking clarity on the actual position of Governor Sule and the APC leadership regarding the reported zoning arrangement.
Analyst say consistency in leadership communication remains vital to sustaining trust, unity and cohesion within the ruling party, especially as preparations for future elections gather momentum.
There are also concerns that changing previously understood political arrangements could create uncertainty among stakeholders who have remained loyal to the party’s internal processes.
Consequently, party members and stakeholders have called on Governor Sule and the APC leadership to clearly state their position in order to prevent further misunderstandings and maintain confidence within the party ranks.
