APC HoR Primary: Voting Begins Late in Nasarawa West as Wadada, Adamu Monitor Exercise

Voting in the All Progressives Congress (APC) House of Representatives primary election in Nasarawa West Senatorial District commenced late on Saturday following the delayed arrival of electoral materials across the five local government areas.
Election materials reportedly arrived at about 2 p.m. for the exercise covering 59 wards in the district.
Secretary of the House of Representatives Primary Committee from the APC National Secretariat, Mr. Ademola Ogungbemile, confirmed that materials, including voters’ registers and result sheets, had been dispatched to the five local government areas through their respective electoral officers.
Ogungbemile warned against any act capable of disrupting the exercise and urged party members and voters to comply strictly with the rules and guidelines governing the primary election.
Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu, representing Nasarawa West Senatorial District, monitored the exercise at his Tudun Kofa electoral ward, where he commended the peaceful conduct of the process.
According to him, reports from Keffi and other local government areas indicated that the exercise was orderly and hitch-free.
“My prayer is that this peaceful conduct by the electorate will be sustained, and at the end of the day, the aspirant desired by the people will emerge as the candidate,” he said.
Reacting to the delay in the arrival of materials, Senator Wadada described the situation as unfortunate, attributing it possibly to logistical challenges.
“It is quite unfortunate, but it may be due to logistics. I cannot explain what caused the late arrival, but whatever the reason, I believe it should be addressed ahead of future elections,” he stated.
On allegations of fake APC membership registration slips, the senator called for strict enforcement of party regulations.
“Any membership card not authenticated by the party should be confiscated, and the bearer arrested. That is why security personnel are present,” he added.
Former National Chairman of the APC, Senator Abdullahi Adamu, who also monitored the exercise, commended officials of the party’s national secretariat for ensuring the process proceeded peacefully despite the delays.
He urged electoral officers across the local government areas to ensure a free, fair, and credible primary election.
Similarly, Chairman of Keffi Local Government Area, Dr. Idris Ahmed Damagani, expressed satisfaction with the conduct of the exercise, describing the process as peaceful and seamless across the area.
“I believe the process will be successful, and the outcome will reflect democratic principles,” he said.
