The women’s wing of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) in Kano State has launched a grassroots mobilisation drive to build support for the anticipated 2027 re-election bid of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

The community-to-community initiative is part of a nationwide campaign spearheaded by Dr Betta Edu, Director of Women Mobilisation of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, with Hajiya Maimuna Bello and Hon. Tsakuwa representing her in parts of Kano State.

Speaking during a community mobilisation exercise, Bello announced the commencement of the initiative, which seeks to strengthen local political structures, deepen engagement with women and expand support for the administration ahead of the 2027 general elections.

In a related exercise, Hon. Tsakuwa reportedly mobilised hundreds of women in Minjibir Local Government Area, where participants were sensitised on the importance of door-to-door engagement and sustained grassroots outreach.

40 Million Votes: The Strategic Target

The mobilisation campaign aligns with the directorate’s stated ambition of securing 40 million votes from female supporters nationwide. Achieving such a target would require extensive coordination among women leaders, party structures, community organisations and supporters across Nigeria.

Kano, with its 44 local government areas, represents a significant arena for the mobilisation effort. Bello therefore called on female political leaders, support groups and community stakeholders to participate actively and maintain engagement at the grassroots.

First Lady’s Women-Focused Programmes Receive Commendation

Bello commended First Lady Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her vision and the implementation of programmes intended to improve women’s welfare, promote economic empowerment and expand opportunities for women.

She also congratulated Dr Betta Edu on her appointment, expressing confidence that her leadership would improve coordination and extend the reach of the women’s mobilisation directorate.

Bello reaffirmed her commitment to working with local political structures across Kano State to advance the campaign’s objectives.

As preparations for the 2027 elections gather momentum, the effectiveness of the initiative will depend on its ability to translate community engagement into sustained political participation and electoral support.
