Kogi Council of Ulamau Organises Hijira 1443 celebration with Special Prayers For Peace in Nigeria.

An Islamic organisation, Council of Ulamau, Kogi state chapter, on Saturday held the annual Hijirah celebration in commemoration of the Islamic calendar marking the migration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad and his followers from Mecca to Medina.

The occasion attracted several Islamic scholars, the Grand Khadi of the state, top government officials, politicians, Islamic youths and women organizations.

In his speech, the Senator representing Kogi East Senatorial District at National Assembly, Senator Jibrin Isah Echocho expressed deep concerns over the spate of insecurity in the Country, lamenting that the citizens live in constant fears and therefore call for urgent and decisive action by all now to curb the criminality .

Senator Isah who was the Chairman of the occasion disclosed that activities of faceless bandits, kidnappers and Boko Haram have posed a lot of challenges to the psyche of generality of Nigerians as no one knows who is the next victim.

He lamented that Nigerians are living in constant fears, saying the Council of Ulamau should use the occasion to pray for the country, Kogi State and governor Yahaya Bello.

He pointed out that the lesson of 1443 Hijirah is that everyone must go back to the basics and move from evil deeds to God, stressing that this will equally solve the leadership problem confronting the the country now.

The Chairman of Kogi State Council of Ulamau and Chief Imam of Ankpa, Sheikh Salman Adam explained that the secondary and most important meaning of Hijrah for all Muslims today is to migrate from all evils and be committed to God’s commandments.

“We pray and ask him to replace our individual and collective sadness with Joy; sickness with recovery; poverty with wealth; backwardness with progress; hardship with ease; quarrel with reconciliation and above all faithlessness with faithfulness”, Imam Adam stated.

The highlight of the occasion of the Hijrah Celebration include, lecture, children’s march-pass and unveiling of 1443 calendar, while the second segment is the Commissioning of the restructured Council of Ulamau Secretariat at Obasanjo Square Lokoja.

The Council of Ulamau applauded Governor Yahaya Bello the Governor of Kogi State for his favourable consideration and disposition to the major religions and their adherents in the state.

“The council shall continue to the cognisance of this fact and partner with the government and all other stakeholders in respect of unity, security, peace and peaceful co-existence in Kogi State, he said.
