Kogi EXCO approves establishment of another state University in Kabba.

Kogi state Executive Council has approved among other bills, the establishment of another Kogi state University , Kabba, with an initial take off fund of N 15 billion naira.
The Council in its meeting on Monday, directed the State Attorney General to transmit the bill to the State House of Assembly for consideration and passage into Law.
Briefing Journalists after the meeting, state Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Hon. Wemi Jones, stated that a University Law is one of the pre-requisite for the National University Commission (NUC) to recognise and approve any established university in Nigeria.
He explained that the state government was working towards ensuring that very soon the National Universities Commission NUC give approval to the new State University.
Hon. Jones also disclosed that the recently inaugurated implementation committee of the institution headed by a renowned Professor of English Language, Prof. Olu Obafemi was working alongside other stakeholders to speed up the process
The Commissioner also clarified on the rumour making the rounds over the conversion of the College of Education Technical, Kabba or about the location of the University.
He explained that it would be more expedient to start the Kogi State University, Kabba at the current site of College of Education Technical Kabba while the College of Education will be relocated to temporary site may be at Mopa Moro Local Government Area .
