Obi Denies Personal Rift, Announces Exit from ADC
Former presidential candidate, Peter Obi, has announced his resignation from the African Democratic Congress (ADC), dismissing speculations that his decision was influenced by any personal disagreement with key political figures.
In a statement that has since sparked widespread political discourse, Obi clarified that his departure was not due to any fallout with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar or former Senate President David Mark.
He also stressed that his political moves are not driven by desperation for power.
“I did not leave the ADC because Atiku or David Mark wronged me. I am not desperate to be president,” Obi stated.
Adopting a reflective tone, the former Anambra State governor revealed that his decision followed deep personal contemplation after attending a church service.
“Fellow Nigerians, good morning. I woke up this morning after my church service with a deeply reflective heart and felt compelled to share these thoughts with you,” he said.
Obi further highlighted the emotional and psychological toll often borne by public figures, noting that many Nigerians may not fully appreciate the silent struggles behind the scenes.
“Many people do not truly understand the silent pains some of us carry daily — the private struggles, emotional burdens, and quiet battles we face,” he added.
While he did not immediately disclose his next political move, Obi’s exit from the ADC is expected to reshape ongoing political alignments ahead of future elections.
