Senator Ahmed Wadada Aliyu has assured traditional rulers across Nasarawa State of improved welfare and strengthened traditional institutions if elected governor in 2027.
The senator made the pledge on Monday during a visit to the palace of the Zhi Minghili, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu (JP), as part of his statewide tour, which commenced in the Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone.
Wadada explained that the visit was not a campaign outing but an opportunity to appreciate the people and engage traditional rulers and stakeholders.
He said the tour was also to express gratitude to Governor Abdullahi Sule for endorsing him as a preferred aspirant for the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship ticket.
“Traditional rulers play significant roles in shaping any administration. Any leader who ignores them is headed for failure,” he said.
“As someone raised within the palace system, I hold traditional rulers in the highest regard. If elected governor, I will put smiles on their faces,” he added.
Responding, the Zhi Minghili, Dr. Ayuba Agwadu, called for peace and unity, offering prayers for the senator’s success while urging him to prioritise good governance and humanity.
In a related development, the Minghili community appealed for the deputy governorship slot to be zoned to one of its sons.
At Dadere Development Area in Obi Local Government Area, the Overseer, Alhaji Jibrin Shuaibu, assured Wadada of the area’s support, noting that Dadere has consistently delivered electoral victories for the APC.
Also speaking, the Sangari of Dadere, Alhaji Saidu Balarabe, described Wadada’s visit as a demonstration of respect for traditional institutions and a people-oriented ambition.
He urged the aspirant to promote peace and unity in his engagements.
Addressing stakeholders during the visit, Wadada cautioned against tribal politics, stressing that effective leadership must transcend ethnic and sectional interests.
“I have served, I am still serving, and by God’s grace, I will lead and build on the achievements of Governor Abdullahi Sule and Dr. Emmanuel Akabe,” he said.
He further called on residents to embrace peace, unity, and issue-based politics, while shunning violence and bitterness.
As part of his outreach, the APC governorship hopeful donated motorcycles and a cash sum of ₦10 million to support local initiatives.
During a separate visit to Keana, Dr. Ahmed Mohammed Musa, one of the aspirants who stepped down in deference to the governor’s decision, urged residents to support Wadada’s candidacy.
Speaking at the palace of the Osana of Keana, Alhaji Abdullahi Amegwa Agbo III, Musa expressed confidence that the APC would conduct a successful primary and emerge victorious in the general election with Wadada as its candidate.
